Privacy Policy

Effective date: 18 March 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Project Tank Wars ("PTW", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal data. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for personal data processed in connection with PTW is:

Jakub Václavský
Email: support@projecttankwars.com

If PTW is later operated through a company or sole-trader registration, the controller details on this page should be updated accordingly.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the PTW website, account registration and login, launcher and client services, game servers, support communications, payments where offered, and related backend systems used to operate PTW.

3. Personal Data We Collect

Depending on how you use PTW, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data: username, email address, password hash, account creation date, acceptance records for legal documents, and age or date-of-birth information where collected for eligibility or compliance purposes
  • Gameplay and service data: progression, inventory, match results, statistics, achievements, settings, authentication data, session data, and account status
  • Payment and entitlement data: purchase history, purchased entitlements, transaction identifiers, billing country, tax-related information, chargeback or refund status, and fraud-prevention records; payment card details are typically processed by the payment provider, not stored by PTW, unless explicitly stated otherwise
  • Technical and security data: IP address, device and operating-system information, launcher or client version, timestamps, connection metadata, crash and error diagnostics, anti-abuse or anti-cheat indicators, and security logs
  • Communication data: messages sent to support, bug reports, appeals, and other direct communications with us
  • Preference data: language, communication preferences, and marketing preferences where you voluntarily opt in

4. How We Collect Data

We collect personal data:

  • directly from you when you register, sign in, use PTW, make a purchase, or contact us
  • automatically through the normal operation of the website, launcher, game client, servers, and backend systems
  • from service providers acting on our behalf where necessary to process payments, deliver infrastructure, or support core service functionality

5. Purposes of Processing

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • creating and managing user accounts
  • authenticating users and maintaining sessions
  • delivering gameplay features, matchmaking, progression, purchases, and related game services
  • operating, securing, maintaining, debugging, and improving PTW
  • preventing fraud, abuse, cheating, unauthorized access, and other harmful activity
  • responding to support requests, moderation issues, and account appeals
  • sending operational messages such as service notices, purchase confirmations, security alerts, or important legal updates
  • sending optional newsletters or marketing messages where you have opted in
  • complying with legal obligations, enforcing our agreements, and establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Depending on the context, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases under the GDPR:

  • Performance of a contract — where processing is necessary to create your account, authenticate you, provide gameplay, deliver purchases, and otherwise operate the services you request
  • Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for service security, abuse prevention, fraud detection, technical diagnostics, service improvement, moderation, and protection of PTW, provided such interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms
  • Consent — where required, for example for optional marketing communications or similar optional features that depend on consent
  • Legal obligation — where processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations

7. Recipients and Processors

We do not sell personal data. We may share personal data with service providers and processors that help us operate PTW, but only to the extent reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

These may include providers for:

  • hosting, servers, storage, and infrastructure
  • content delivery, DDoS mitigation, and network protection
  • database, backend, and cloud services
  • email delivery and support communications
  • payment processing and fraud prevention, where purchases are offered
  • analytics, monitoring, or crash diagnostics, where enabled

We may also disclose personal data where required by law, court order, or binding request from a competent public authority, or where necessary to protect rights, property, safety, or the integrity of the service.

8. International Data Transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where that happens, we will rely on a lawful transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the service, maintain account records, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

  • Account data is generally retained while the account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward where needed for security, dispute handling, or legal compliance
  • Gameplay and technical data is retained for as long as needed to operate the service, investigate abuse, maintain integrity, and improve functionality
  • Support communications may be retained for as long as needed to handle the issue, maintain support history, and defend legal claims
  • Payment and accounting records may be retained for the period required by applicable accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention laws
  • Where possible, data that is no longer needed may be deleted, aggregated, or anonymised

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

PTW may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies where necessary to operate the website, maintain sessions, remember preferences, secure the service, or support analytics and functionality. Where consent is legally required for non-essential technologies, we will request it through the relevant interface before those technologies are used.

11. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you may have the following rights, subject to applicable conditions and limitations:

  • the right to be informed
  • the right of access
  • the right to rectification
  • the right to erasure
  • the right to restriction of processing
  • the right to data portability
  • the right to object
  • the right not to be subject to certain decisions based solely on automated processing where applicable
  • the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

To exercise your rights, contact us at support@projecttankwars.com. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

12. Complaints

If you believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the Czech Republic, the competent authority is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, ÚOOÚ).

14. Children

PTW is not intended for children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal data in breach of this policy or applicable law, please contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

15. Automated Decision-Making

We do not currently make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on users. If that changes, we will update this policy as required.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page together with its effective date. Where required by law, we will take reasonable steps to notify users of material changes.
